Scattered snow showers and cold the highlight of week!

Past few days we have been seeing some lake snow come over from a tiny disturbance. The main cause has shifted off and things should tone down now. Wednesday still hold possibilities for some rather heavy shower activity, but nothing accumulating more than a dusting.

Week ahead is absent of any huge snow makers. Temps continue to be cold, but a shot in the 30s is not out of the question for this weekend. Expect lows at night to be in the single digits by the end of the week. Clear skies will only help with radiant cooling as we will have no clouds to act as a blanket and keep daytime heat in. Wind will also pick up creating some negative wind chills here and there.

Area of High pressure will keep a potent storm off our backs next week. Looks like the Northeast may contend with a Nor’easter if this thing were to shift a little bit. With the High comes more cold weather. Its a shame to have the cold here, but get no snow.

Climate wise, this year we are way behind our average snow total. I will have to take the time to look it up, but we should have quite a bit totaled right about now. My stand on this is the effects of El Nino this year. It really changes the pattern of systems across the board. Keep in mind we have a few months of snow left, we aren’t out of this yet…

NOAA usually does an extensive report on El Nino and what parts of the country are expecting what. The charts are helpful to read. So far things to be correct, as we are dryer than average.
