Wind on the way

Expect to see some pretty decent winds on Friday as a low tracks north from the nation’s midsection. Its been interacting with a system that had dumped 10 inches of rain in parts of southern Minnesota. 10 inches! That is a large amount for a land based system. Granted that area that got the 10 inches experienced rain for a whole day or so, some tropical systems don’t dump that much in one spot.

The low will track up into Lake Superior bringing us some serious winds. A Wind Advisory is set to take place early Friday morning through the night for wind 20-30mph; gusting to 40. So in a way fall blows in with style. Enjoy it!

Spotted some cool air infiltrating from Canada a week or so out. Should be interesting to see where that leads as we may see our first frost (which according to NOAA isn’t that far off in the first place).

Red arrow shows an upwelling of warm air following the migrating cool air (blue arrow) from Canada. Yes that blue contour line has to do with it too!
