Spotty showers and cool temps

We have lucked out over the past week or so. Due to a rather out-of-line weather pattern, things have been realitivly dry.

Coming up in the week though, we could see some showers. Wednesday looks to be our primary chance at rain as an occluded front passes over. Humidity will build into the evening hours and some showers should develop. A low will then form in Ohio and track eastward to the East coast. There the GFS really shows it blowing up to a rather strong storm. The Northeast states will see some decent winds and rain from that event later this week.

We recover with a large area of high pressure that will bring back clear skies before another front pushes through around next Tuesday.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am participating in the WxChallenge. It is a nationwide weather competition for college students/grads. A city is given and participants must forecast wind speed, high and low temp, and precip daily for a week or so. There is a fall and spring session. Full details can be seen at It is a pretty fun experience, find myself checking the stations frequently hoping it hits my forecast high and low temps. However it is something to stay committed to as I missed a forecast the other day and that set me back quite a but, was hovering around 1000 or so in rankings. Expect to do better once I get my resources and knowledge of forecasting down!
