Once again, the cold is here! For the next week anyway, lows can be expected in the teens and highs in the 30s. Temps should be close to 40 by next week, so anyone who got snow will see that slowly going away. Should be dry this week as well with a high pressure system moving over. Skies will be clear with some perky clouds out to add some variety.

Very interesting visible shot on the GOES website today. I know those are not clouds because it is crystal clear outside now…so that must be snow! Look at that cut off line! Can clearly see where snow fell vs other precip.

Very neat shot of snow on the ground in central and northern Michigan. (NOAA-NASA GOES Project)

Storm total reports for Mount Pleasant came in around 6.9″. I did not manage to get my measurement when everything was done, would expect some to have melted now.

Along with this system, two rounds of severe weather occurred. In the news has been a tornado that crippled homes in western PA. Estimated at this time it was an EF-2 tornado with winds between 111mph and 135mph. Thoughts go out to all those affected by the severe weather. The night before, tornadoes were streaking across the Midwest. I pointed these out in the live blog with visible and radar imagery.

Severe WX reports for 3/22/11
