Fall Arrives in Full Dress

The first day of Autumn 2011 was in season as a nice cool day developed. Highs topped out in the lower 60s and some clouds filled the sky as the day went on.

As the week goes on, the sky should remain unchanged. A slight chance of showers lingers the whole week as a storm system is slow to exit. At time of writing, the center of the low was positioned over western Illinois. It will slowly track northeast, as predicted by the GFS, into the Great Lakes. Based on the low’s structure, best chance of rain comes on Monday.

Cyclone sits in the lower Midwest causing some decent fall like conditions all around. This system will hang out for a little while before phasing with the northern jet later this week.

Wxchallenge starts this week! Last year was my first year pitting forecasts against forecasts. It was ok, however consistency is key! Had a few days starting out where I was close to the top mid day, but a missed forecast or error would really set me back. Hopefully this time around I can set like 5 alarms to keep me in check, or my loyal roommates.

This screenshot really proves little as it was the first day of the Richmond, VA forecast. At the time I took the picture, I was ranked 3rd in the nation. Overall, I was quite far down there(#941).

Wow, I am impressed with your 3rd place ranking, even if it was fleeting. You have so much more experience going into this year’s challenge. Good Luck!
